Purchase Unplanned, AC Milan Regret Recruit Bonucci?
AC Milan are reportedly sorry to hook Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus in the transfer market last summer. Regret was none other than the Rossoneri never intend to bring Bonucci.
Italian national team defender was joined by AC Milan with a transfer value of 42 million euros. The value makes Bonucci as the most expensive player in Serie A in the summer of 2017.
However, with AC Milan, Bonucci is considered not as tough as when playing for Juventus. Three defeats of the first seven Serie A matches are used as benchmarks. He was always a scapegoat every time the 18-time Serie A champion was lost.
Recently, it was revealed that AC Milan actually never planned to recruit Bonucci. I Rossoneri seem rushed to buy the 30-year-old defender because he has been considered as one of the best defender in the world.
“Bonucci is not a planned purchase, because we did not think there was a chance we could get it from Juventus,” said AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli told Rossonera Radio, as reported by Football Italia.
“I never imagined they let important players leave,” he said.
Mirabelli admitted that the transfer market last summer made it difficult for AC Milan. He revealed that too many offers came in at the time, so when there was a chance Bonucci left the Bianconeri, the Rossoneri did not think long to recruit him.
Advice from Bonucci Agent
“When I met the agent (Alessandro) Lucci and he continued to suggest buying Bonucci, I told him not to disturb my time until I talked to Leo myself to verify the truth,” he said.
“I found that he really wanted to join Milan, so I believed there was a real chance, so I talked to Fassone (CEO of Milan) and told him, ‘we take this opportunity in 24-48 hours or we will miss ‘And we chose to take the opportunity, “said Mirabelli.
After officially joining, AC Milan also gave the captain’s armband to Bonucci. This decision was protested by agent Gianluigi Donnarumma, Mino Raiola.
According to Raiola, AC Milan’s management has reneged on the promise, which was delivered during a client’s contract renewal some time before Bonucci’s recruitment. In addition to the question, Raiola also often comment on the AC Milan project.
“He’s like an actor, he loves the media spotlight and then says things like that, because by mentioning Milan, it means his name will go to the newspaper, even if he does not really need it,” Mirabelli responded.
